Abstract

This study aims to explore the methodology of Hadith-based argumentation in the Seerah writings of Dr. Syed Abu al-Khair Kashfi. It critically examines his approach to the selection, interpretation, and application of Hadith in constructing the biography of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The research highlights the principles he employs in distinguishing between authentic and weak narrations and evaluates the extent to which his methodology aligns with the established principles of Hadith sciences. Furthermore, the study analyzes the balance between narration (riwayah) and rational analysis (dirayah) in his works and compares his approach with other prominent Seerah writers. By adopting a qualitative and analytical method, this research aims to assess the scholarly contributions of Dr. Kashfi and their impact on modern Seerah studies. The findings suggest that his approach reflects a careful integration of classical Hadith scholarship with contemporary research methods, making his work a valuable contribution to the field of Seerah studies. The study concludes with recommendations for future research and emphasizes the need for a more systematic and critical use of Hadith in Seerah writing.
