The Stylistic Use of Poetry in the Narration of Seerah: A Critical and Analytical Study in the Context of Urdu Seerah Writing

Abstract

This study investigates the stylistic use of poetry in the narration of Seerah within the context of Urdu Seerah writing. It aims to explore how poets and Seerah writers incorporate poetic verses to enhance the expression, emotional depth, and rhetorical impact of the biography of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The research critically examines the purposes, patterns, and effectiveness of using poetry in Seerah narratives. Furthermore, the study analyzes whether the use of poetry serves merely as a literary embellishment or contributes meaningfully to the understanding and interpretation of Seerah. It also evaluates the criteria for selecting poetic material and its compatibility with historical authenticity and scholarly rigor. Using a qualitative and analytical approach, this research highlights the strengths and limitations of poetic integration in Seerah writing. The findings suggest that when used appropriately, poetry significantly enriches the narrative and facilitates deeper engagement with the subject. However, it also emphasizes the need for careful selection and critical evaluation to maintain academic integrity. The study concludes with recommendations for future research and encourages a balanced integration of literary aesthetics and scholarly methodology in Urdu Seerah writing.
