Review of the jurisdiction into the recommendations of the Council of Islamic Ideology
Abstract
In the present era, the world has become a global village. The interaction and socialization among people have transcended a specific boundary. In such circumstances, rather than being limited to a single jurisprudential school of thought, benefiting from and acting upon diverse opinions becomes inevitable. On the other hand, to establish any order at the national and international levels, or for the government to declare something as law, it is essential that individuals with differing views come together and collectively formulate a shared course of action. This is the point of convergence for collective ijtihad (independent juristic reasoning) and reconciliation. Several efforts have been made and continue to be made for this purpose. For instance, in the Arab world, the International Islamic Fiqh Academy (Jeddah) is a prominent entity that provides common guidance for people in accordance with the circumstances and events. Many other institutions of this kind have been established, and in Pakistan, the establishment of the Council of Islamic Ideology (CII) has been officially carried out. Its purpose is to adopt appropriate and feasible opinions according to the needs and circumstances, send recommendations to the government, and facilitate legislation. This paper examines the selected recommendations of the Council of Islamic Ideology in terms of the implementation of reconciliation.
