ROLE OF DR A B ASHRAF IN THE PROMOTION OF TURKISH LITERATURE

Abstract

This article is an effort to highlight the contribution of Dr A B Ashraf For the promotion of Turkish literature. The Pakistan Turkey relations and of Subcontinent date back to centuries ago.Both the brother countries promote their culture and literature. Beside the governments there are some individuals who are cause of this Promotion. Dr A B Ashraf is of them, who were appointed as Chairperson of Urdu and Pakistan chair Ankara University in 1989. This chair was established in 1956 and Dr Daud Rehbur was first head of this chair. Dr A B Ashraf served on this position for seven years and later on he taught Urdu literature in different institutes till last breath of his life. He was given Turkish nationality in 1997.During his stay in Turkey he studied Turkish Literature and started writing about this. He published his articles about different aspects of Turkish literature. These articles portray the historical background and critical analysis of Turkish poetry, Novels, short stories, drama and the contribution of Turkish Writer of different times. He wrote his book “Turkey mera dusra wattan” in 2023 which covers the Turkish History, culture and civilization, and provides a comprehensive Study of Turkish Literature.
