Naseem Hijazi was a famous Urdu novelist who holds an important place in the ranks of historical novelists. His real name was Sharif Hussain but he is mostly known by his pen name "Naseem Hijazi". He was born in 1914 in Gurdaspur district of Punjab before the partition of India. At the time of independence from the British Raj, his family migrated to Pakistan and he spent the rest of his life in Pakistan. He passed away in March 1996. His novels are based on the history of the rise and fall of Muslims, which have left their mark on many generations of the Urdu-speaking class. He does not stop at just describing historical events, but depicts situations in such a way that the reader feels himself a part of the story and is directly affected by the dialogues of the characters in the novel. Naseem Hijazi has written about 20 faith-inspiring novels. The book under review, "Dastaan-e-Mujahid", is also a novel written by him. This historical novel of his contains interesting events from the Umayyad Caliphate, the conquest of Andalusia, the conquest of Sindh, the conquest of Central Asia, and the conquest of the west.
