Abstract

This study offers a psychological analysis of female characters in Qudratullah Shahab's short stories, moving beyond superficial traits to explore their inner worlds, motivations, and struggles. Applying Freudian, Jungian, and existential psychological theories, it uncovers the dynamics shaping their actions and destinies. The analysis examines themes like identity, societal pressure, resilience, trauma, and agency within patriarchal contexts, highlighting how Shahab's female characters navigate traditional roles versus personal goals and the impact of societal expectations. By exploring their dreams, anxieties, and conflicts, this research reveals the psychological depth Shahab imbues his female figures, offering a fresh perspective on his work and its relevance to gender and psychology in Urdu literature.
