Abstract

A comparative study of the jurisprudence of the four schools regarding Zakat al-Fitr in the light of Imam Abdul Wahhab al-Sharani’s Al-Meezan al-Kubra. Sadaqat al-Fitr is obligatory according to all the esteemed Imams. On this issue, two opinions are narrated from Imam al-Sharani: one regarding its necessity and the other regarding its obligation. Similarly, Sadaqat al-Fitr for a shared slave is obligatory on co-owners. Regarding a non-Muslim slave, there is a difference of opinion: according to Imam Abu Hanifa, it is not obligatory for the master to pay on behalf of the slave. Imam al-Sharani also follows the view of the three Imams, whereas according to the three other Imams, it is obligatory for the master to pay
