The Unity of the Islamic World Between the Challenges of Reality and the Foundations of Civilizational Building

Abstract

This research addresses a set of key issues that reflect the depth of the challenges facing the Islamic world in its contemporary reality, foremost among them the distortion of the concept of regional security, the escalation of the arms race, and the decline of justice as a foundation of stability and legitimacy. It demonstrates that confining security to the military dimension and relying on external alliances have contributed to weakening sovereign decision-making and deepening strategic fragility. The study also highlights that the arms race, in the absence of a collective project and an independent knowledge-based vision, shifts from being a tool of deterrence into a factor of dependency and developmental exhaustion. It emphasizes that justice constitutes the core value upon which divine messages and human civilizations have been founded, and that its absence undermines trust and threatens social cohesion. The research further links justice to development, showing that political and institutional reform is a prerequisite for progress and stability. It concludes that the unity of the Islamic world cannot be achieved without shared strategic awareness, security and developmental integration, and the revival of the unifying values of the Ummah. Accordingly, overcoming current crises requires a comprehensive civilizational project that makes justice, knowledge, and cooperation the foundations for building security, unity, and development.
