The discipline of ʿUlūm al-Qurʾān (Qur’anic Sciences) holds a foundational position in Islamic scholarship, as it encompasses the principles, tools, and methodologies essential for understanding the Qurʾān. Over the centuries, numerous scholars have contributed to this field through comprehensive works that explore various dimensions such as the history of revelation (asbāb al-nuzūl), compilation, types of verses (muḥkam and mutashābih), abrogation (naskh), and the miraculous nature (iʿjāz) of the Qurʾān. This research aims to conduct a critical review of selected classical and contemporary books on Qur’anic Sciences, focusing on their introductions, core discussions, and the scholarly merits that distinguish them. The study begins by identifying key texts that have shaped the discipline, such as al-Burhān fī ʿUlūm al-Qurʾān by al-Zarkashī, al-Itqān fī ʿUlūm al-Qurʾān by al-Suyūṭī, and modern works like Manāhil al-ʿIrfān by al-Zurqānī. It evaluates their methodology, thematic diversity, and scholarly impact. Through comparative analysis, the paper highlights how these works respond to the intellectual and spiritual needs of their respective eras and contribute to the enduring relevance of Qur’anic studies. Additionally, the research reflects on how these texts serve as bridges between traditional Islamic sciences and contemporary academic approaches. This analytical exploration not only emphasizes the depth and richness of Qur’anic Sciences but also offers a framework for future scholars to approach the discipline with renewed insight and appreciation.
