Abstract

Urdu belongs to Indo-Aryan family of languages. This family includes major languages ​​that are spoken in many countries of Asia and Europe. Urdu language has influences from other languages like Arabic, Persian and English language, which is reviewed in this article. Persian language has great contribution on Urdu language and literature. In the subcontinent, the Arabic language has come under the influence of Iran. After the British colonizers came to India, Urdu language absorbed many English words. The abundance of words in other languages ​​has widened the scope of Urdu language.
