Urdu afsana and Criticism: A Brief Review

Abstract

The literary criticism of Urdu short story took ages to become a canon. The centuries old tradition of criticism rooted in poetry overshadowed criticism on short story as a field. With time, the field of criticism matured and algined itself with the fundamental priciples of short story. Therefore, multitudes of critical paradigms emerged as far as literary criticism of Urdu short story is concered.
