The Protean Critic : A Study of Dr. Abu al-Kalam Qasmi

Abstract

Abu al-Kalam Qasmi is one of the prominent names in modern Urdu criticism.  He paired modern criticism with the Eastern tradition of criticism in Urdu poetry as visible in the volumes of his literary criticism. His words ring of finality. One of the hallmarks of his criticism is its objectivity. Thus making him one of the finest literary critics among his peers. This paper analyzes the foundations of his literary criticism.
