This paper examines the nexus between Islamic philanthropy and sustainable development, specifically addressing poverty within Sustainable Development Goal 1 (SDG-1). Grounded in Islamic ethics, economic principles, and social justice, the study explores the distinctive contributions of Islamic philanthropy to poverty alleviation. Islam is a social religion and in a broader spectrum, it is rooted in the strong foundations of a balanced, equitable and just social setup. Islam asserts the practices that positively contributes to the wellbeing of the whole society and restricts the actions that adversely effects the societal norms and values set by Islam. All the five integral components of Islamic philanthropy including Shahada, Salah, Roza, Zakat, and Hajj are the emblem of Discipline, social equality, and justice. Analyzing the compatibility of Islamic principles with the broader sustainable development framework, the study advocates for an inclusive and holistic approach to poverty alleviation. Through real world case studies, the research highlights role of Islamic principles in poverty Alleviation thus contributing to sustainable development goals, particularly within SDG-1. Addressing gaps and challenges in the current Islamic philanthropic landscape, the paper proposes recommendations to enhance effectiveness, encouraging collaboration between Islamic philanthropic institutions, governments, and international organizations to achieve shared sustainable development targets. The research findings provide valuable insights for policymakers, practitioners, and scholars seeking to leverage Islamic philanthropy as a catalyst for sustainable development, specifically targeting poverty alleviation. By fostering a nuanced understanding of Islamic philanthropy's role in the context of SDG-1, this paper promotes dialogue and collaboration for a more inclusive and equitable global development agenda.
