THE INFLUENCE OF PASHTO TAPA ON PROFESSOR MUHAMMAD NAWAZ TAIR'S HAIKU: A RESEARCH STUDY

Abstract

Professor Muhammad Nawaz Tair has made significant contributions to Pashto poetry by composing in a variety of poetic genres, including Hamd, Naat, Ghazal, Nazm, Qat‘a, and Haiku. Among these, his use of the Haiku form stands out for its originality and cultural adaptation. Professor Muhammad Nawaz Tair's Haiku compositions reflect a deep influence of the traditional Pashto Tappa, a folk poetic form known for its brevity, emotional depth, and cultural resonance. Drawing inspiration from the rhythmic and thematic qualities of Tappa, he has skillfully crafted Haiku that merge classical Japanese structure with Pashto sensibilities. This article presents a detailed research study on the impact of Pashto Tappa on Nawaz Tair’s Haiku, exploring how he blends traditional Pashto poetic elements with the aesthetics of Haiku to create a unique literary expression.
