Abstract

Islam is a comprehensive and nature-aligned religion that teaches moderation and balance in all aspects of human life. The human natural disposition includes a desire for entertainment, comfort, and aesthetic feelings. Islam neither suppresses these natural instincts nor leaves them unchecked, but rather sets clear moral and legal boundaries for their expression. Entertainment is acknowledged in Islam as a legitimate and necessary activity, provided that it leads the individual towards spiritual and moral elevation, refines their character, and establishes a positive foundation for social life. The concept of entertainment in Islam is clarified through the Quran, Sunnah, the actions of the companions, and respected juristic opinions. This review establishes that entertainment is an essential part of human life, but Islam does not view it as merely a source of pleasure or time-passing triviality. Rather, entertainment is linked with purpose, moral responsibility, and moderation. In this context, the scope of selecting and creating fine arts, such as music, painting, poetry, drama, and other creative and cultural activities, is also defined. The research reveals that in Islam, fine arts are appreciated as long as they highlight the greatness of Tawhid (Oneness of God), promote moral values, remain within the bounds of modesty and dignity, and inspire human thought and actions towards good and righteousness. Arts that promote obscenity, immorality, oppression, shirk (associating partners with Allah), or moral degradation have no place in Islam. Islamic teachings do not consider the arts as merely a means of aesthetic pleasure but call for them to enhance the inner self and contribute to the cultural development of society. In the present age, when global trends in fine arts and entertainment show a marked deviation and liberalism, this research also sheds light on how Islamic societies should adhere to their principles when selecting fine arts and entertainment. The study clarifies that when entertainment and fine arts are promoted in accordance with Islamic principles, they can not only contribute to an individual's spiritual, mental, and physical development but also play a crucial role in the establishment of a pure, civilized, and balanced society.
