Ahmad Nadim Qasmi's short stories are renowned for their deep social consciousness, tackling critical issues such as human suffering, poverty, religious tolerance, and social injustice. This paper offers a comparative analysis of Qasmi’s works alongside those of other prominent Urdu fiction writers such as Premchand, Saadat Hasan Manto, and Rajinder Singh Bedi. By examining selected stories like "Permaishar Singh," "Kafan Chor," and "Chopal," the study reveals the shared themes of humanism, societal conflict, and poverty across these authors’ works. Through this comparison, the paper emphasizes the profound influence of social consciousness in shaping narratives and creating a connection with the reader, highlighting the collective efforts of these writers to address social issues and advocate for a more just society.
