The Methodology Drawbacks of Orientalists in the research of Quraanic Studies

Abstract

Orientalists, particularly Goldziher and Arthur Jeffery,demonstrated keen interest in the research of Quranic sciences.In the opinion of aforementioned researchers, their research methodology on Quranic sciences was based on neutrality and objectivity. But the facts are against their claims; their arguments were based on preplanned missionary ideologies and pointed out towards the particular political objectives. These orientalists employed alleged modern and scientific but double standard and conflicting methodologies to prove Quran as an unsecure and inauthentic document. The purposeof their research methodology is creating anarchy and mental disturbance within ummah by Skepticism,so-called rationalism and choosing fabricated stories among the unreliable,irrelevant and controversial references and sources. These Orientalist deny or ignore the authentic Hadiths and narrations that were communicated through reliable sources of Quranic sciences.They also represented the myth stories as recognized fact under the veil of research. This article points out the deceptive,nonobjective,negativeand destructive research methodologies.
