This article analyzes the contrasting scientific philosophies of Muslim and Western civilizations through the lens of Averroes' thought. It highlights Averroes' view that there is a harmonious relationship between reason and revelation in all knowledge domains. His scientific framework promotes the integration of reason and science with religious guidance, whereas Western civilization has strayed into a moral crisis by emphasizing unfettered reason and secularism. Averroes supports the idea that Islamic law underpins both science and philosophy, positioning them as pathways to understanding God. In contrast, the West operates largely devoid of religious influence in its intellectual pursuits, leading to materialism and atheism. The article posits that Muslim civilization retains a distinctive and valuable position, urging contemporary Muslim intellectuals to embrace religious knowledge alongside modern thought to foster progress. Furthermore, it critiques the Western separation of religion from science and observes how Western thinkers often reference Averroes to counterbalance their own philosophical extremities, pointing to a necessity for a reevaluation of secularist ideas that clash with Islamic principles.
