Abstract

This paper will compare the processes of Imam Muslim and Imam al-Bukhari in Hadith collection, which was to conserve the Sunna, as the second main source of Islamic legislation. Imam Bukhari used extremely high standards, establishing a continuous chain of reports, personal confirmation of the intercultural contact of reminder and remembered and the unaltered purity of moral character. His incredibly discerning method led to approximately 7,563 narrations, which makes Sahih al-Bukhari the gold standard of authenticity. Imam Muslim, as rigorous, took a somewhat broader approach. His encouraged narrations were those that were likely to include direct contact, contained corroborative variants, and placed emphasis on consistency of content. His collection of over 12,000 Hadiths offers further background knowledge that is useful for theological and legal justification. They discuss other external factors including conflicts in politics, sectarian strains, and even geographical scholarly traditions, which informed their choice of options. Both researchers were concerned with related issues such as counterfeit Hadith or incoherence in transmissions which were resolved by close isnad authentication and textual criticism. These findings suggest that Bukhari gave more emphasis to maximum authenticity and Muslim offered a broader range of valid traditions. Collectively, their writings comprise the basis of Hadith sciences that guarantee that appropriate Prophetic traditions are preserved and inform classic and modern Islamic scholarship.
