The Holy Qur’an offers deep insights into human creation, its nature, and the ultimate purpose of life. Human personality is based upon two fundamental dimensions: the physical-sensory faculties and the spiritual-intellectual attributes. The Qur’an not only identifies these aspects but also prescribes their training, balance, and gradual development. Human traits—whether sensory or spiritual—are central in shaping moral character, social behavior, and personal growth. In Urdu exegetical literature, notable commentators such as Maulana Shafi Usmani (Ma’arif-ul-Qur’an), Maulana Syed Abu Al-Ala Maududi (Tafheem-ul-Qur’an), Maulana Abdul Rehman Kaylani (Tayseer-ul-Qur’an), and Pir Karam Shah Al-Azhari (Zia al-Qur’an) have highlighted these dimensions, attempting to connect Qur’anic guidance with modern intellectual, moral, and social demands. Their writings engage with contemporary disciplines such as psychology, neuroscience, and social sciences, demonstrating how sensory faculties like hearing, sight, and touch enhance perception and consciousness, while spiritual values such as honesty, patience, justice, humility, and compassion cultivate psychological balance, moral discipline, and social harmony. This research systematically explores Qur’anic interpretations of sensory and spiritual human traits within Urdu exegetical traditions and situates them in dialogue with modern scientific findings. Through interpretive analysis, comparative methodology, and interdisciplinary approaches, the study emphasizes not only the exegetical significance of these attributes but also their contemporary relevance in addressing moral decline, psychological stress, and social imbalance in today’s world.
