Abstract

Waris Shah, the eminent Punjabi Sufi poet of the 18th century, is best known for his magnum opus Heer Ranjha, a classic narrative poem that has deeply influenced Punjabi literature and culture. This article explores the distinctive writing style of Waris Shah, focusing on his linguistic mastery, poetic techniques, and spiritual depth. The analysis highlights his unique use of vivid imagery, rich symbolism, and rhythmic verses, which reflect the socio-cultural and emotional landscape of his time. Waris Shah's style blends classical Persian literary traditions with native Punjabi idioms, creating a poetic form that is both accessible and profound. His work stands out for its philosophical insights, satire, and humanistic themes that transcend mere romantic storytelling. By examining his diction, narrative structure, and thematic concerns, this study underscores Waris Shah's enduring legacy as a literary figure who elevated Punjabi poetry to new heights.ـ"
