"THE AUTHENTIC STATUS OF HADITH" (A CRITICAL ANALYSIS OF THE ANTAGONISTIC APPROACH OF THE MODERNIST)

Abstract

This paper investigates the critical approach of the modern religious skeptic scholars towards the authenticity of Hadith. According to the perspective of the Modern thinkers, Quran is the only authentic source of Islamic law and they undermine the authenticity and validity of hadith, its compilation and documentation. But the traditional religious scholars counter this notion as an absurd and chaotic one and they working on the refutation of the denial of hadith. They argued that hadith is the core source to understand and follow the Divine commandments. Furthmore, the preservation and compilation of hadith is a transparent and  authentic process which makes it well-documented fact to be followed to understand Quran since prophetic era to the present times. This research, in the context of the above facts, critically and analytically examines and counter the arguments of the modern thinkers about the denial of hadith. This research presents the scholary arguments by many well known scholars to prove the authenticity of hadith.
