Abstract

This study explores a significant dimension of modern Qur’anic interpretation — revolutionary (or activist) tafsir. It examines how scholars such as Abul A‘la Maududi, Sayyid Qutb, and Dr. Israr Ahmed interpreted the Qur’an through an ideological and reformist lens to awaken social and political consciousness in the Muslim world. These interpretations present the Qur’an as not merely a spiritual guide, but as a transformative charter aimed at societal reformation and the establishment of divine justice. This paper analyzes the methodology, themes, and impact of these exegetes, assessing their influence on Islamic movements, grassroots activism, and the political worldview of Muslim societies.
