Abstract

‘‘The tradition of column writing finds its roots in the royal courts, where the narration of events marked its earliest form. In Urdu literature, this tradition is as old as the Urdu newspaper itself. Over time, Urdu columns have appeared in various forms and styles.Ahmed Rizwan is regarded as one of the prominent columnists of Multan. His columns, published under titles such as ‘Nusrat’ , ‘Cholistan ke Landscape’, and ‘Gehri Raag Daari’, reflect his unique voice. He began his formal journey in column writing with ‘Nawa-i-Waqt Multan’.Ahmed Rizwan skillfully employs satire and humor through deliberate literary techniques, infusing his writings with a refined literary subtlety. Despite his relatively brief career in this field, the diversity of themes, sophisticated humor, contemplative depth, and originality of thought in his columns have earned him a place among the distinguished columnists of his time’’۔
