Abstract

The phrase "الإسلام يعلو ولا يُعلى عليه" (Islam is supreme and nothing surpasses it) is a significant principle in Islamic thought emphasizing the superiority of Islam in both spiritual and legal aspects. This concept is rooted in Islamic jurisprudence and theology asserting that Islamic teachings hold the highest authority in guiding personal and societal conduct.Historically,Islamic scholars have interpreted this principle to affirm the comprehensive nature of Islamic law and its precedence over other legal and ideological systems. The phrase also reflects the Islamic worldview advocating for adherence to divine guidance as the ultimate source of justice and morality. While this idea has been a cornerstone of Islamic discourse its application has evolved in different historical and geopolitical contexts. This paper explores the origins, interpretations and implications of this principle examining its relevance in contemporary Islamic thought and legal framework.
