Naat is a sacred literary genre. It was started by Allah. With the descent of Hazrat Adam on earth, signs of Naat-e-Rasul (peace be upon him) are found. Naat exists in both prose and verse forms. Its poetic form began in Arabic, which reached India through Persian. Thus, Naat also began in the regional languages of India. This article discusses the beginning of Naat in some regional languages of India along with a brief history of Naat. The early history of Naat in languages such as Punjabi, Sindhi, Balochi, Pashto is the subject. The article also mentions and presents the humble words of novice Naat singers from different parts of India.
