A RESEARCH STUDY OF FOLKLORE IN THE POEMS OF NAWAZ TAIR

Abstract

This study examines the representation and significance of folklore in the Pashto poetry of Nawaz Tair, a prominent literary figure known for his contribution to Pashto language and culture. Folklore, as an essential component of Pashtun heritage, is deeply embedded in Pashto poetic traditions, reflecting the collective beliefs, customs, values, and historical consciousness of the society. The research investigates how Nawaz Tair incorporates folkloric elements such as oral narratives, proverbs, myths, symbols, and cultural motifs into his poetry. Using a qualitative and analytical approach, the study explores selected poems to identify recurring folkloric themes including honor, love, bravery, hospitality, and spiritual symbolism.
