In the modern era, unfortunately, oppression and violence, prejudice, injustice and violation of human rights have brought human societies, especially pluralistic societies, to the brink of chaos and destruction. In such circumstances, the question arises as to how to establish peace in a pluralistic society? So, a look at Islamic history shows that the biography of the first conqueror of Islamic history, Hazrat Muhammad (peace be upon him), is a shining example and the best model in this regard. Books of biography and history show that only a strong welfare state can ensure justice and peace in a pluralistic social state. He (peace be upon him) wisely ended the centuries-old enmities and disputes between the different religions and tribes living in Medina through the Covenant of Medina and established social peace. He preferred to appoint mediators to resolve social conflicts. In the Treaty of Medina, all parties recognized the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) as the judge and arbitrator in their mutual disputes. By teaching equality, the Last Prophet (peace be upon him) has put an end to all kinds of tribal, racial and ethnic pride and conflicts, and has taught all societies throughout the world the basic principle of establishing peace. The teachings of the Prophet prohibit any person from being forced to accept a religion. Religious tolerance and religious and moral education are also the basis of peace in a pluralistic society, which the teachings of the Prophet are full of. Keeping the door of negotiations always open is also the basis of resolving conflicts and establishing peace. Sometimes, jihad against the oppressors and evil-doers is also necessary for establishing peace. The system of punishment for crimes is a just system. Even by implementing Hudud and Qisas equally on all people, the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) taught legal equality and tried to establish peace in a pluralistic society.
