Ghulam Abbas is counted among those short story writers who, without affiliation to any organized movement, used their art as a means to express the diverse aspects of human life. In his work, one finds open insight and psychological depth rather than ideological narrow-mindedness. However, he never lost sight of the complex realities of colonialism; instead, he portrayed it with great skill within human relationships, social attitudes, and everyday mundane events. The very title of Ghulam Abbas's story "Fancy Hair Cutting Salon" symbolically reflects the colonial era. In this story, through the mere setting of a barbershop, he exposes the psychological, economic, and cultural dominance of the entire colonial system. Ghulam Abbas reveals the intricate grip of colonial power with such artistic insight that the reader comprehends not only the political but also the deep mental and spiritual effects of colonial subjugation. This article consists of a review of colonial influences in Ghulam Abbas's short stories.
