Abstract

Urdu Naat Goi, the genre of Urdu poetry dedicated to the praise and adoration of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him), has long held a prominent and enduring position in the world of literature. From the very inception of Urdu poetry to the present day, poets from every era have embraced Naat as a source of pride and inspiration. While male Naat poets have made significant contributions to this art form, female poets have also distinguished themselves in this field. Among them is Bushra Farrukh.

Bushra Farrukh  is also the author of sixteen books, including two collections of Naats, eight poetry collections, and a travelogue. Eleven of her books have received prestigious awards, including the National Siraat Award and the Presidential Award.

Bushra Farrukh is the first female Naat poet from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to have her work published in book form. In recognition of her outstanding services, the Government of Pakistan has awarded her the Presidential Medal of Performance.

 Bushra Farrukh is not only a source of pride for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa as the first female Naat poet to have her work published in book form but has also paved the way for future female Naat poets. This piece aims to pay homage to her Naat Goi in the context of modern-day requirements.
