In the present era, Urdu is the largest language spoken in Gilgit-Baltistan, although many other small languages, including Shana, Balti, Broshski, Khowar, and Wakhi, are spoken here, but the language of communication is one and that is undoubtedly Urdu. A century and a half ago, the situation was completely different. In that era, every valley had its own dialect, every region had its own way of life, and every region had its own customs. The people here were completely unfamiliar with a language called Urdu, while on the other side of the Himalayan mountains, this language was spoken across the breadth of India.
