This research study presents a comparative analysis of the principles of peace, justice, and mutual responsibility in the Seerah of Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and contemporary international peace frameworks. The study aims to explore the extent to which the leadership, treaties, and social reconciliation models of the Prophet ﷺ align with modern principles of international law, the United Nations Charter, and contemporary global governance mechanisms. The initial section of the study introduces the concepts of international peace and coexistence, highlighting ethical leadership, justice, human rights, tolerance, and collective responsibility as foundational pillars. Subsequently, practical models from the Seerah, such as the Treaty of Hudaybiyyah, the Constitution of Medina, and peaceful interactions with diverse tribes and religions, are analyzed. These examples demonstrate that the Prophet ﷺ effectively mitigated conflicts through reconciliation, trust-building, and shared responsibility, principles that are highly consistent with modern international peace approaches. The study further examines modern international peace frameworks, including United Nations principles, diplomatic negotiations, mediation, and cultural and social diplomacy. This section illustrates that contemporary peace mechanismspeaceful conflict resolution, international cooperation, cultural engagement, and collective responsibilityshare strong ethical and practical alignment with the principles exemplified in the Seerah. Particularly, the study addresses contemporary challenges such as terrorism, sectarianism, and cultural conflicts, highlighting how the Prophet ﷺ’s models of ethical leadership, education, tolerance, and mutual respect can provide effective guidance in mitigating such challenges.
The comparative analysis concludes that the principles of the Seerah are not only a model for establishing peace and coexistence within Islamic society but also provide practical guidance for promoting interfaith harmony, cultural cooperation, and sustainable international relations in the modern world. The study emphasizes that addressing contemporary global challenges, including extremism, sectarian divisions, and cultural tensions, requires the integration of ethical and religious principles with international law and policy frameworks.
This research underscores the contemporary relevance of the Prophet ﷺ’s principles for global peace, interfaith cooperation, and human development, demonstrating that ethical leadership, justice, reconciliation, and collective responsibility remain critical not only as religious ideals but also as practical strategies for sustaining international peace.
