This research article explores the transformative "intellectual and cerebral" portrayal of women in Urdu Nazm (poem) during the 21st century. It argues that contemporary Pakistani female poets have fundamentally reshaped the traditional poetic landscape, moving beyond the classical trope of the "ideal beloved" to establish the woman as an active "intellectual agent." Through a critical analysis of the works of poets such as Nasim Nazish, Arifa Shahzad, Sehar Ali, Fakhra Noreen, and others, the study examines how modern poetry rejects gendered objectification and instead prioritizes the mind, self-awareness, and individual agency. Key thematic pillars of this new narrative include the "burden of awareness" (Aagahi), the search for an independent identity stripped of traditional societal labels, and the exploration of internal existential contradictions. The article further delves into the concept of the female writer as a socially responsible intellectual who utilizes the "pen as a weapon" to challenge systemic injustices and patriarchal norms. The study concludes that the Urdu Nazm of the new century serves as a powerful medium for women to assert their intellectual autonomy, presenting a holistic vision of a self-determined human being capable of redefining her own social and metaphysical boundaries.
