Abstract

The letters though considered to to be  private affair, but written  by prominent  and literary figures era very important  from certain aspects. These letters help in understanding the personalities of  these figures literary movements and literary theories of their era. Shafiq-ur-Rehman  is a well known  humorist and fiction writer in urdu literature.The letters  written by him to his contemporaries have not been published in the form of a a collection , but his letters published in dispersed form  in different journals and books these letters greatly helps in understanding his personality and the era he lived in. This article is based on a critical and research review of his letters.
