Abstract

This paper explores the remarkable variety and richness of Radif (refrain) in the Ghazals of Momin Khan Momin, a prominent classical poet of Urdu literature. Momin’s poetry is widely recognized for its delicate expression of love, refined sensibility, and artistic restraint, which distinguish him from many of his contemporaries. Among the various poetic devices he skillfully employs, the Radif holds a special place, contributing significantly to the lyrical beauty and emotional resonance of his Ghazals.

Unlike many of his peers who often relied on conventional or repetitive Radifs, Momin exhibits a rare creative flair by introducing freshness, subtlety, and thematic depth through his choice of refrains.
